I chose to
analyze and catalog the box of broken axes and celts from the Hunterdon County
Historical Society. I learned a lot from this project. It was extremely
difficult to figure out what materials each object was made out of. I employed
the help of a co-worker who is studying geology in college and together we were
able to identify what each of the axes and celts were made out of. Represented
within this small portion of the collection were materials such as diorite,
granite, sandstone, basalt, and gabbro. All of these materials are native to New Jersey. (Written by Lauren Cunningham).
